Abstract

This research aims to study the directions in textile and fashion design education management in Thailand by surveying opinions from three key stakeholder groups: students and graduates, textile industry establishments and fashion business owners, and faculty members. The study evaluates desirable graduate attributes and curriculum development approaches to align with labor market demands and sustainable industry development. The study employed a survey research methodology, collecting data through questionnaires from three sample groups: 100 students and graduates from textile and fashion educational institutions, 10 textile industry establishments and fashion business owners, and 10 faculty members. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including mean, standard deviation, and frequency.

The research findings revealed that all three stakeholder groups rated desirable graduate attributes at a high level overall, including: ethics and morality (= 3.79), knowledge (= 3.67), intellectual skills (= 3.87), interpersonal relationships and responsibility (= 3.70), and psychomotor skills (= 3.92). However, numerical analytical skills, communication, and information technology skills received moderate ratings (= 2.82), indicating a need for further development in these areas.

Recommendations from stakeholders highlighted the necessity for curriculum improvement, emphasizing the development of computer skills and design-related software proficiency, enhancement of work discipline and ethics, strengthening of fashion design fundamentals, and expansion of styling skills. This research demonstrates that textile and fashion design education management should focus on integrating theoretical and practical skills while developing digital technology competencies and promoting sustainability in the industry.
