About the Journal

Burapha Science Journal (BSJ)  ISSN: 2985-0983 (Online)

Burapha Science Journal (BSJ) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary scientific journal published by the Faculty of Science, Burapha University, Thailand. Established in 1996, BSJ serves as a high-standard platform for the dissemination of rigorous research.

Aims and Scope

The Burapha Science Journal is committed to advancing research and disseminating high-quality scholarly work. We provide a supportive platform for researchers to contribute original, unpublished research that promotes scientific progress and practical applications. We welcome manuscripts within the following areas:

  • Biological Sciences: Biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology.
  • Food Sciences: Nutrition, food processing, technology, and food safety.
  • Aquatic Sciences: Marine ecology, aquaculture, and physical oceanography.
  • Physical Sciences: Physics, chemistry, materials science.
  • Interdisciplinary & Applied Sciences: Mathematics, statistics, GIS, computer science, bioinformatics and environmental science.

Types of Articles

BSJ welcomes two categories of submissions:

        1. Research Articles: These are structured investigations grounded in a rigorous scientific process. We seek original work that begins with a clearly defined research problem or hypothesis, supported by systematic methodology for data collection and analysis. Manuscripts must provide meaningful results and discussions that contribute significantly to academic advancement or offer clear practical applications.

        2. Academic Papers: These are scholarly reflections that present a new conceptual framework, a theoretical discussion, or the systematic application of specialized knowledge to a specific field. Unlike research articles, academic articles focus on synthesizing existing knowledge to offer a comprehensive overview of a topic, providing fresh academic perspectives or theoretical insights that enhance the understanding of current developments in the scientific community.

Editorial & Publication Policies

Peer Review Process

To maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity, BSJ employs a Single-Blind Peer Review process. Every manuscript is evaluated by at least three independent experts in the field who are external to the authors' institution. We are committed to reviewer diversity, selecting evaluators from a broad range of institutions and specialized backgrounds to ensure accuracy, clarity, and meaningful academic contribution.

Language

In line with our mission to be a gateway for the East, BSJ is a bilingual platform. We consider and publish manuscripts in both Thai and English, ensuring that local insights and international research can coexist and inform one another.

To ensure this knowledge is globally accessible, we mandate Extended English Abstracts for all Thai manuscripts, providing a comprehensive overview of the research body. Furthermore, we require high-quality English metadata (titles, abstracts, figures, tables, and keywords) and Romanized citations for every article.

Publication Frequency

We publish three issues per year:

  • Issue 1: January–April
  • Issue 2: May–August
  • Issue 3: September–December

Once a manuscript has cleared our rigorous peer-review and editorial process, it is published online immediately to ensure vital research reaches the scientific community without delay.

Ownership, Management, and Archiving

The Burapha Science Journal is owned, managed, and published by the Faculty of Science, Burapha University, Thailand. As the primary governing body, the Faculty provides full financial and operational support to ensure the journal's sustainability and the dissemination of high-quality research. The journal is managed by an editorial board of subject-matter experts dedicated to maintaining rigorous academic standards.

  • 1996–2020: Hosted and archived via internal systems at the Faculty of Science, Burapha University.
  • 2021–Present: To enhance global accessibility and streamline the journey from submission to publication, the journal has transitioned its editorial management to the Thai Editorial System (ThaiES) and is hosted on the Thai Journals Online (ThaiJO) platform. This transition is professionally supported by the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI) Centre.

Open Access, Copyright, and Licensing

BSJ is committed to the principles of open science, providing immediate and permanent Open Access to all published content. We believe that making research freely available fosters a robust global exchange of scientific knowledge. All content—including text, equations, formulas, tables, and illustrations—is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. This allows others to remix, adapt, and build upon the work for non-commercial purposes, provided the original work is properly cited. While authors retain the right to share their work, the formal copyright for all published material is held by the Faculty of Science, Burapha University. Consequently, the reproduction or distribution of any content for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited without prior written consent.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

There are no submission fees or article processing charges for publishing in BSJ. Our goal is to remove financial barriers for researchers; work is evaluated solely on its scientific merit.

Advertising and Direct Marketing

BSJ does not accept advertising revenue, host paid advertisements, or engage in unsolicited direct marketing. All promotions and calls for papers are communicated transparently through our official website and institutional channels.
