 Identity & Vision

The term 'Burapha' is derived from the ancient Sanskrit term for 'The East.' In a scientific context, it is more than just a direction. It is a symbol of the 'Rising Sun,' representing the constant beginning of new discovery, knowledge, and scientific enlightenment.

Our Evolution

Established in 1996, the Burapha Science Journal (BSJ) was founded by the Faculty of Science to serve as a high-standard platform for disseminating rigorous research. While our roots remain firmly planted in the vibrant academic and industrial landscape of Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), our vision has grown.

Today, BSJ stands as a mark of quality and integrity. We have transitioned from an institutional publication into a multidisciplinary scientific hub that welcomes contributors and readers both locally and from across the globe. Our journey reflects a dedicated commitment to bringing regional scientific excellence to the international stage, ensuring that the 'Light of the East' contributes meaningfully to the global scientific community.

Aims and Scope

The Burapha Science Journal is committed to advancing research, and the dissemination of high-quality scholarly work. We provide a supportive platform for researchers to contribute original, unpublished research that promotes scientific progress and practical applications. We welcome manuscripts within the following areas:

  • Biological Sciences: Biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology.
  • Food Sciences: Nutrition, food processing, technology, and food safety.
  • Aquatic Sciences: Marine ecology, aquaculture, and physical oceanography.
  • Physical Sciences: Physics, chemistry, and materials science.
  • Interdisciplinary & Applied Sciences: Mathematics, statistics, GIS, computer science, environmental science, and bioinformatics.

 Types of Articles

  1. Research Articles: A Research Article presents a structured investigation built on a clear scientific process. We look for work that:
  • Starts with a clearly defined research problem or a fresh hypothesis.
  • Employs a systematic and logical methodology for data collection and analysis.
  • Provides meaningful results and a thoughtful discussion that contributes to academic advancement or practical use.
  1. Academic Papers (Review Articles): An Academic Paper offers a scholarly reflection on a specific field. We look for papers that:
  • Synthesize existing knowledge to provide a clear, comprehensive overview of a topic.
  • Enhance understanding of current developments for the scientific community.
  • Offer perspectives that help guide future research or support academic discussion.

Editorial & Publication Policies

Peer Review Process

To maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity, BSJ employs a Single-Blind Peer Review process. Every manuscript is evaluated by at least three independent experts in the field who are external to the authors' institution.

We are committed to reviewer diversity, selecting evaluators from a broad range of institutions and specialized backgrounds. This diversity of perspective ensures that every paper published in the "Light of the East" is vetted for accuracy, clarity, and its meaningful contribution to the scientific community.

Language

In line with our mission to be a gateway for the East, BSJ is a bilingual platform. We consider and publish manuscripts in both Thai and English, ensuring that local insights and international research can coexist and inform one another.

 Publication frequency

We publish three issues per year

    • Issue 1: January–April
    • Issue 2: May–August
    • Issue 3: September–December

Once a manuscript has cleared our rigorous peer-review and editorial process, it is published online immediately, ensuring that vital research reaches the scientific community.

BSJ is proudly published by the Faculty of Science, Burapha University, Thailand.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

We believe that knowledge should be accessible. There are no submission fees or article processing charges for publishing in BSJ. Our goal is to remove barriers for researchers, ensuring that the quality of the work is the only criteria for publication.

  Journal History & Progress

Since its inception in 1996, BSJ has evolved from a biannual print publication (ISSN 0858-7612) into a modern, online-only scientific hub (ISSN 2985-0983).

Key milestones include:

  • 2014: Transitioned to an online-only format to increase global accessibility.
  • 2015–Present: Consistently ranked as a Tier 1 Journal by the Thai-Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI).
  • 2023: Migrated to the ThaiJO 2.0 platform, streamlining the journey from submission to discovery.

Today, guided by our vision of the "Rising Sun," we continue to elevate our editorial standards as we move toward broader international indexing, ensuring that regional excellence contributes to the global scientific dialogue.
